In the year 2001, shortly after the release of Mephistos Appealing, Dawn of Oblivion
started to write new tunes and record demos for what was to be DOO:s fourth full length album. For various reasons, other music projects, work and a shortage of time in general, in 2005 we decided to retire DOO from the music scene. By this time we had about 18 scratches for songs recorded and ruffly mixed.
By 2007, the urge to hear the the tune "Father" again was to great, and I set out to find the old mix on my computer. My immediate reaction was one of dissapointment, the mix was dull and unbalanced, the song is in my opinion one of the best Dawn of Oblivion has ever written. In a moment of dispair I bagan to search my hard-drives for the files I needed to remix the song. I found everything, re-mixed it, mastered it to "commercial levels", and to my suprise, it sounded pretty good for a pre-production recording. Then...stupidity kicked in. If I had "Father" on my HD maybe I had more tunes laying around that could be remixed? I started to look in to this and found that
the audio material for these songs were scattered over many CD/DVD roms and hard disks in mine and Stefans home studios, and the task of locating, retrieve and remix them first seemed like an impossible challange.....but it was'nt. I managed to retrieve about 90% of all the material recorded between 2001-2005 and puzzle together the induvidual files into something that could be mixed. My "battle with stupidity" took about 18 months and the result was again quite pleasing. The quality of the mixes were not up the standard we had in mind for our fourth album, they were still pre-production recordings but they were as good as they were gonna get, at least good enough for my personal listening needs.

In 2008 we decided to share some of the new material for free on the internet to help promote Stefan Rosqvist solo album "the guitar diaries". We also shared some of the tunes to Mr. A.Larsson of M&A MusicArt, our old record- company, who was into the idea of releasing the material. We wresteled with this idea for some time and after an evening of excorbitant use of Victors collection of Islay whisky, we decided it's better to release the material than to let it drift into oblivion on a computer somewere. The release will be a two stage rocket, the first stage will be 4 track EP, entiteled "Ikaros", will be released in download form only and is now available in internet music shops.
The second stage, a 13 track album entiteled "the final chapter", will be available both as download and CD sometime this fall.
